How do I start a senior companion business?

Do I need to be a PSW to become a senior companion?
No. Companionship is non-medical — conversation, outings, errands, activities and presence. Many companions come from personal support work, recreation, hospitality or family caregiving. Check the rules in your province or state for anything beyond non-medical support.
How much do senior companions charge per hour?
Independent companions commonly set an hourly rate in their local market and bill mileage separately. Because you work for yourself, there is no agency cut, so more of the rate stays with you. You set and change your own rates at any time.
What is the difference between companionship and home care?
Home care usually involves personal or medical support such as bathing, transfers or medication. Companionship is social and practical: visits, conversation, activities, errands and outings that keep an older adult engaged and connected.
How do companions find clients?
